Ode to Auntie Chol
Remembering Auntie Chol: A guiding light, full of wisdom and love, whose memories of summers, songs, and lessons will forever warm my heart.
In the house of Sta Rosa where summers bloomed,
Auntie Chol and I, in joy, we were consumed.
A woman of mystery, never her age revealed,
In her eyes a wisdom, in her heart a field.
Karaoke echoes, my voice she loved to hear,
Her smile, her silence, forever sincere.
With quiet grace, she'd tend the home and garden fair,
While Nancy Drew and I would unravel secrets there.
Adobong puti, a taste of pure delight,
Cooked by hands that held the family tight.
We'd watch TV as the afternoons would glide,
In her company, no secrets did I hide.
A learner, a teacher, she never ceased to grow,
Her children raised, she conquered academic flow.
A master, a professor, with a will so rare,
Her wisdom, her kindness beyond compare.
To me, she whispered, "Special, my dear child,"
Her protection, her love, tender and wild.
A memory in the forest, a lesson etched in heart,
A bond unbroken, though distance did us part.
A day shy of eighty-nine, she bade the world adieu,
A chapter closed, yet her spirit flies anew.
Thank you, dear godmother, for the memories so grand,
For lessons, for love, for your guiding hand.
In dreams, in thoughts, you'll forever dance and sing,
Goodbye, Auntie Chol, to you, my love I bring.
